Review: Fleetingwood Mac

During a warm and muggy evening in Felixstowe, post the England versus Sweden World Cup game, Portsmoth based tribute band Fleetingwood Mac played the Spa Pavilion.

The band, consisting of four extremely talented musicians and a lead vocalist, gave the audience song after song from the Fleetwood Mac repertoire. The collection of songs spanned the 1960’s through to the ‘80’s and included Rhiannon, Go Your Own Way, Little Lies, Big Love and, my personal favourite, Dreams.

Although there was no flamboyant dressing up, unlike in Fleetwood Mac, this band was able to perform the hits with professionalism. Particularly impressive was the drummer, Sean Kenneally, as he oozed enthusiasm for the music, giving 100% effort with every song he played.

Singer Bethany Raine must be credited for her beautiful voice, although sadly the sound system meant that often the clarity of her singing was slightly distorted.

The band are a ‘no frills’ group and they would be the first to admit that. Their passion comes from performing Fleetwood Mac songs and for giving it ‘their all’ when playing their respective instruments and singing.

Die hard Fleetwood Mac fans were present and dancing in the aisles. They were also very appreciative of the fact that Bethany said the band had had a lovely day in such a beautiful town.

It would be true to say that the Felixstowe crowd took Fleetingwood Mac into their hearts and would welcome them back someday soon.
