Panto: Aladdin (22/12/23) - Felixstowe Radio Review

Dennis Lowe Theatre Company: Aladdin - SPA PAVILION | FRIDAY 22 DECEMBER, 2023

The Spa Pavilion Felixstowe 's roof was well and truly raised last night at the very first night of Dennis Lowe Theatre Company's colourful and joyous production of 'Aladdin'

Suzanne Lowe's production had the families screaming in delight at the antics of the talented cast.

With all the classic pantomime themes, this production gave us the much needed traditional start to Christmas.

The chaotic world of Widow Twankey's family meets the Emperor of all China's (a heavily bearded Rod Gilbert) and a boy meets girl and fall in love.. Suzie Lowe and John Bingham swept us into love and romance with their great voices and moves.

Dean Wales as Widow Twankee is a favourite experienced hand as Dame, working the audience and singing to 'Dear Future Husband' Dave! A great fun and highly professional performance.

Wishee Washee and his terrible jokes and magic tricks has an endearing cheekiness and very listenable voice.

Abanazar's is a powerful baddy with the deep tones and huge presence of John Ling. Abu the monkey, charmingly played by little Mila Lowe and the chorus of tiny children the panto babes brought out the aaah factor. And two mini Emperor's guards Alfie and Dexter.

Wouldn't we all like a genie to sort out our problems? And Aladdin has two in his lamp and ring in the form of sparkling Leeann Ling and Leon Richer (Luscious Leonie)

The delightful dancers and unseen pit singers with some fabulous voices complete the whole panto package. Prepare to bellow 'behind you' and cheer and clap your Christmas hearts out!
