‘An Evening of Burlesque’ - SPA PAVILION | SATURDAY 11 FEBRUARY, 2023

A Review by Hayley Clapperton, of Grapevine Live

The longest-running burlesque show is touring the UK and the first date in the region was the delightfully charming Spa Pavilion.

This is a packed titillating show warmly hosted by international showgirl Ivy Paige. Ivy set the tone with a belter of a song ‘Welcome to Burlesque’ while the gorgeous trio of dancers moved their bodies around the stage in a confident, sexy and sassy performance.

Moving on to a slow big band style version of ‘Locomotion’ Ivy was singing while a Mistress of Tease gave us a tantalising show, stripping down to her minimal but sparkly under garments.

There were several performers on the billing this night and all came on stage at least twice for showcasing their skills.

The wonderful Velvet Jones, named possibly by the smoothness of her skin, performed a great piece with exotic feather fans and she also gave a very sexy backwards stripping performance.

Sebastian Angelique, a male burlesque dancer had his energetic routines which dazzled the audience, one included playing with fire while only wearing a few sparkles.

Matt the stage hand, well who we thought was the stage hand on work experience collecting pieces of discarded clothing, was in fact an escapologist with a fun sense of humour. Audience members were picked to help with fun results.

Isabella Bliss, who alongside showcasing her assets was able to bring humour to the stage as Marilyn Monroe looking for a new husband, the chosen audience member now has a night he’ll never forget. Isabella performed a couple more routines, one being the famous champagne glass routine where water is involved.

Singing entertainment also came from Saucy Davis Jnr whose smooth, powerful voice oozed sexiness, as did his act. The trio of dancing girls came out several times for different routines, wearing great outfits from feathers to body stockings, all were dancing in ways we couldn’t take our eyes off. As a host, Ivy is charming, delightful and has the ability to make a deep connection with everyone in the audience making the evening highly entertaining and a celebration of all things burlesque.

The whole evening was fun, warm, sexy, sassy and included sparkles, glitter, lights, champagne, tassels, feathers, G-strings and plenty of skin.
